ECOFECT – Eco-evolutionary dynamics of infectious diseases - won the call for projects «Laboratoires d’Excellence 2011» issued by the «Investments for the Future» programme of the French Government. It is one of the 12 Laboratories of Excellence (LabEx) supported by the Université de Lyon Education and Research Cluster. The aim of the LabEx is to strengthen the role and international visibility of the best French laboratories.

ECOFECT gathers about 195 people among whom 150 are researchers and teachers-researchers, from 11 scientific (University C. Bernard Lyon 1, ENS Lyon, CNRS, Inria, Insa), medical (Inserm, Institut Pasteur, Hospices Civils de Lyon, Fondation Mérieux), veterinary (VetAgro sup) and agronomic (Inra)institutions.

TO BETTER UNDERSTAND INFECTIOUS DISEASES AS WELL AS THEIR ROLE IN THE EVOLUTION OF ORGANISMS AND TO BETTER PREVENT AND TREAT INFECTION

► How global changes transform human and animal diseases
► Towards integrated diagnostics and more suitable treatments
► Inter-disciplinary monitoring and research

ECOFECT builds a new expertise, based on complementarity of different communities of excellence in Lyon: on the one hand virologists, bacteriologists, immunologists and clinicians, on the other hand ecologists and evolutionists.
