Today, we had the great chance to welcome two internationally recognized scientists: Vanessa Ezenwa from the University of Georgia (US) and Evan Snitkin from the University of Michigan (US). The interdisciplinary presentations of the Ecofect structuring projects, the flash presentations and the poster session have triggered discussions and exchanges on the eco-evolutionary aspects of infectious diseases.
Vanessa Ezenwa from the University of Georgia (US) presented her research on the helminth-microbe coinfection in wild fauna (buffaloes from South Africa) and Evan Snitkin from the University of Michigan (US) presented a study on the development of resistance to antibiotic treatments within several hospital units in the States.
The three structuring projects financed by Ecofect, ANTISELFISH, METINBAT & ZIKActin, kind of mini-consortia have presented their last research findings.
The conference day has been completed by flash presentations and a poster session on collaborative and interdisciplinary projects.
Congratulations to Elodie Portanier from the LBBE institute for the Ecofect Young Research Price for the best flash presentation and to Marie Dujardin from the MMSB Institute for the Ecofect Young Research Price for the best poster !
We are really grateful to the members of the organising committee for this great multi-disciplinary conference day, and all the speakers and participants for quality research exchanges.
In short, a genuine ecofectian day that led us from studies of infectious diseases in wildlife to the molecular and cellular boundaries of host-pathogen interactions and antimicrobial resistance!
