Promotion of clinical translational research

Ecofect benefits from the excellent socio-economic ecosystem of Lyon. Lyon Civil Hospitals (Hospices Civils de Lyon) represent the 2nd university-hospital center in France and one of the most important in Europe. In addition, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region has an internationally recognized Health Competitivity Center - the LyonBioPôle - focussing its mission on 4 strategic action domains (human and veterinary drugs, in vitro diagnostics, medical devices and medical technologies).

Several of the LabEx's research funded projects are producing results with a genuine applied potential. To be at the forefront of the fight against (re)emerging infectious diseases, Ecofect translational research brings closer the results of basic science and clinical research to patient needs. The Ecofect community gathers numerous clinicians who bring complementarity, relevance and legitimacy to the LabEx in the development of translational projects along the value-chain.

The translational research programs in infectiology are developed either internally through the financing of Collaborative Projects (such as VMMTSS, ViBra-Flu or VIVALDI) or Structuring Projects (such as ANTI-SELFISH), or in direct collaboration between the LabEx teams and other institutions including Lyon Civil Hospitals (HCL), the National Reference Centers for Infectious diseases and the Technoloy Innovation Institute for Microbiology BioAster.
