University Degree
Medicine has recorded tremendous successes the last two centuries (auscultation, vaccination, antibiotics, anesthesia, surgery, etc.) thanks to advances in biology and to a range of conceptual and technological progresses. However, it remains a domain that has not yet been integrated into medicine (human and veterinary), that is the Sciences of Evolution.
For the first time, the Lyon Faculty of Medicine and the LabEx Ecofect have joint their forces to develop an educational program on Evolution Sciences, intended for all medical specialties, by creating in 2016 a University Degree (UD) entitled "Evolutive Biology & Medicine", first of its kind in France.
It illustrates the pioneering work of Ecofect to promote an interdisciplinary education in biology and medicine. The objective of this UD is to place the various medical disciplines within the broader ecology and evolution frameworks. Integrating an evolutionary reasoning into the initial and continuing training of physicians, researchers, practitioners and clinicians in human or animal health should lead to new avenues of prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
It is intended for students in human and veterinary medicine, in biology (4th year validated), and to all health professionals and professions (continuing education). Our goal is to develop a community at the interface between medicine and evolution sciences. To discover the content of this very innovative and little-known educational domain, we invite you to visit the UD website.
